9 June 2018 — Unless there is a change of course, the amount of plastic waste in the world’s oceans will outweigh the fish that live in them, by 2050, said the United Nations Secretary-General on Saturday, declaring that the world now faces a “global emergency” over the oceans.

“The facts are clear. Our oceans are a mess,” said António Guterres at an outreach event, that was part of the Group of Seven – or G7 – Summit of industrialized nations, taking place over two days, in Charlevoix, Canada.
The G7 group of advanced economies, consists of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Why World Meat Free Week?
Intensive meat and dairy production is destroying our forests, polluting our water, and warming our planet. It is causing deforestation on a massive scale, with over a quarter of the earth’s landmass currently being used for livestock grazing!

7 June 2018, (Wall Street International)* — As I was sitting in a cafe of the Vienna’s 19th Century glamorous Palais Coburg (a.k.a.
Palais Saxe-Coburg), built in the neoclassical style upon the ruins of the, once, strong Vienna’s bastion-style, 16th C. fortification, nowadays turned a five-star hotel featuring the old fortification ruins in its foyer, trying to renegotiate a deal for getting a tea and a cake at a combined discounted price, I could not but feel humility in face of the fact that a historic deal of almost world-wide importance was recently also negotiated in the same palace.

IT’S FRIGHTENING. Unprincipled psychologists, in the service of a malignant regime, use sophisticated techniques in order to control the mind of a person from afar.

Uri Avnery
The term “brainwashing” was born in 1950. It is a Chinese word (“xinao”, literally wash brain).
Originally it served to describe a technique used – so it was claimed – by Chinese masterminds to manipulate the minds of American prisoners in the Korean War.
They changed their unconscious mental processes and turned them into agents of sinister forces.
Many books and movies purported to show how this works. For example, the classic film “The Manchurian Candidate” shows how the communists take an American prisoner-of-war in the Korean war, an officer, manipulate his mind and give him an order to kill the US presidential candidate.

The United Nations Secretary-General, António Guterres, has called for more accountability for human traffickers in Libya, after the UN Security Council on 7 June 2018 added six individuals accused of leading smuggling and trafficking networks in the country, to its Sanctions List.

The unprecedented sanctions against the leaders of trafficking networks, follow widespread international outrage at the end of last year, when the CNN television network broadcast pictures of migrants being auctioned off in a modern-day slave market, in the suburbs of the Libyan capital.
