11 June 2020 (ILO-International Labour Organization)* — The COVID-19 health pandemic and the resulting economic and labour market shock are having a huge impact on people’s lives and livelihoods. Unfortunately, children are often the first to suffer. The crisis can push millions of vulnerable children into child labour.
The UN General Assembly has urged the international community to step up efforts to eradicate forced labour and child labour, and declared 2021 as the Year for the Elimination of Child Labour.

(United Nations)* — World Day Against Child Labour 2020 focuses on the impact of crisis on child labour. The
COVID-19 health pandemic and the resulting economic and labour market shock are having a huge impact on people’s lives and livelihoods. Unfortunately, children are often the first to suffer. The crisis can push millions of vulnerable children into child labour. Already, there are an estimated 152 million children in child labour, 72 million of which are in hazardous work. These children are now at even greater risk of facing circumstances that are even more difficult and working longer hours

Washington, DC – The United States government should take bold steps to end human rights violations and structural racism driving racial disparities in Covid-19 and spurring mass protests across the country, Human Rights Watch said today [10 June 2020] in written testimony to the Ways and Means Committee of the US House of Representatives.
Available data indicates that black and brown people in the United States are more likely to suffer severe illness and die from Covid-19.
