11-year-old Abbas was injured by shrapnel near his home in southern Lebanon, fleeing with his family and leaving behind everything

“The sound was incredibly loud, shattering our windows and destroying everything,” he said.
Abbas did not have any time to gather his belongings and just left the house leaving it all behind. “This is the fifteenth day without my clothes, and we don’t dare go south to retrieve them.”

Abbas used to raise pigeons at home and is really anxious because he left them without food as they fled after the missile hit. “I don’t know if they are alive,” he said.
“I think about them every day, and I wish I could go back to check on them. My mind is constantly at home…” Abbas’s wish is for everyone to return home and for the war to stop in Lebanon.
For children across Lebanon, as well as death, injury, and displacement, the escalation in hostilities has instilled an unimaginable fear in their daily lives.
More than ever before they face the harsh reality of a life filled with uncertainty and violence. UNICEF is on the ground delivering urgently needed water, health, nutrition, education services, and providing psycho-social support.
