15 January 2018 – Amid continuing violence in Afghanistan, the United Nations and the humanitarian community has appealed for $430 million to provide assistance to some 2.8 million people across the country who have been affected by conflict and natural disasters as well as families returning home after years in Iran and Pakistan.

The release of Michael Wolff’s book Fire and Fury has heightened concerns about Donald Trump’s mental fitness for office. In her review of the book for the Washington Post, Jennifer Rubin says that it shows Trump to be “an unhinged man-child utterly lacking in the skill needed to be president”—despite Trump’s assertion that in fact he’s a “very stable genius.”

Meeting the high-ranking officials from Antigua & Barbuda, Cuba, Dominica, Grenada, Saint Lucia, Saint Vicente and the Grenadines, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Bolivia, Ecuador and Nicaragua, the President of Venezuela invited them to join him in overcoming what he had previously called a “financial blockade” imposed by the United States.

Over 60,000 people from Central African Republic have fled across the Ubangi River to the northwestern part of Democratic Republic of the Congo since fighting erupted in May.

A 10-minute canoe ride away are the charred ruins of the village of Wapale, in the war-torn Central African Republic (CAR), which he and his family fled in fear in May last year as fighting between rival armed groups drew near.

Yet here I am, writing about Ya’ir, damn it. Can’t resist.
And perhaps it is really more than a matter of gossip. Perhaps it is something that we cannot ignore.
IT IS all about a conversation between three young man in a car, some two years ago.
One of the young men was Ya’ir, the eldest of the two sons of the Prime Minister.
Ya’ir is named after the leader of the “Stern Gang”, whose real name was Abraham Stern. The original Ya’ir split from the Irgun underground in 1940, when Britain stood alone against Nazi Germany.

Mexico City – Progress in the fight against hunger and extreme poverty hinges on eliminating the “triple discrimination” faced by indigenous women, FAO Director-General Jose Graziano da Silva on 12 January 2018 said.
Indigenous women face far higher rates of poverty, chronic malnutrition and illiteracy as well as low access to health care and participation in political life, Graziano da Silva told participants from a dozen countries at the Forum on Indigenous Women in Mexico’s capital.
