They cover 31 per cent of total land area, provide clean air, store carbon, and absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. They contain over three-quarters of
the world’s accessible freshwater, and they supply water to half of the world’s largest cities. They are home to over 300 million people worldwide, and more than 1.6 billion people depend on them for their livelihoods. They provide medicinal plants, timber, fuel, rubber, and paper, and they can absorb 20 per cent of world’s greenhouse gas emissions.
They are our forests. Yet, humans are just killings them!
