With more than 745,000 Rohingya having fled violence in Myanmar to settle in Bangladesh, joining roughly 200,000 others already sheltering there, United Nations aid agencies and partners launched an appeal on Friday [15 February 2019] to help meet their “dire needs”.

14 February 2019 (Wall Street International)* — The current situation in Venezuela is a tragedy in the making, and it will very likely cause the death of many innocent people. Venezuela is on the verge of foreign military intervention, and the ensuing bloodbath may take on dramatic proportions. This much has been stated by Henrique Capriles, the best-known leader of the opposition to Nicolas Maduro, when he said that puppet-president Juan Guaidó is turning Venezuelans into “fodder for cannon”. He knows what he’s talking about.

With more than 500,000 people in Europe estimated to be unrecognized as a citizen of any country, the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) and the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) underscored that children without a nationality have limited access to basic rights and services, like education or healthcare, and can face life-long discrimination.
