GENEVA, 9 May 2016 (UNHCR) – The UN Refugee Agency is calling on the Government of Kenya to reconsider its recent announcement that it intends to end the hosting of refugees.

The Ministry of Interior made the announcement on May 6 in a statement that cited economic, security and environmental burdens. It said the Government had disbanded its Department of Refugee Affairs and was working on a mechanism for the closure of Kenya’s refugee camps – a move that could affect as many as 600,000 lives.

ANTI-SEMITES make me laugh. They are so funny.
I know that many will consider this statement frivolous, if not obnoxious, considering all the terrible things committed by anti-Semites throughout the ages, including the Holocaust. But nowadays, they are just ridiculous.
The things they believe in. The things they say. Ridiculous.
TAKE THE ex-mayor of London, Ken Livingstone. The things he says are ridiculous indeed. Even for a politician.
For example, he said the Adolf Hitler was a Zionist, or a lover of Zionists.
Hitler? Zionist?Adolf Hitler was a pathological hater of Jews and everything Jewish. Indeed, his anti-Semitism was so central to his beliefs, that it overcame everything else.
Staring into the face of final military defeat, he still diverted trains from essential military tasks in order to transport Jews to the annihilation camps.

Greenpeace Netherlands has released secret TTIP negotiation documents. We have done so to provide much needed transparency and trigger an informed debate on the treaty. This treaty is threatening to have far reaching implications for the environment and the lives of more than 800 million citizens in the EU and US.

Whether you care about environmental issues, animal welfare, labour rights or internet privacy, you should be concerned about what is in these leaked documents. They underline the strong objections civil society and millions of people around the world have voiced: TTIP is about a huge transfer of power from people to big business.

The United Nations Food and Agriculture (FAO) and the European Union (EU) will step up joint efforts to support tropical timber-producing countries in curbing illegal logging, improving forest governance and promoting the trade of legally sourced timber, under a $30 million funding agreement on 13 May 2016 announced.

LONDON, 10 May 2016 (IRIN) – Russian President Vladimir Putin will not be attending the upcoming World Humanitarian Summit in Istanbul and Russia is refusing to be bound by the results of a process it says failed to include its views.
A Russian statement, obtained by IRIN, says any outcomes of the summit would not be legitimate grounds to change the UN’s emergency aid setup.
